A Baptismal Prayer

Images of BaptismOn Sunday, January 8, 2017, we celebrated the Baptism of our Lord in Word and Sacrament. In our worship at St. Hugh’s we renewed our Baptismal Covenant. The prayer offered for the newly baptized (p. 308, Book of Common Prayer) was adapted for an Octave of Prayer by our Episcopal Church in its General Convention of 2006. It is a prayer we expect to use throughout 2017. ~Fr. Dan

Heavenly Father, we thank you that by water and the Holy Spirit you have bestowed upon us the forgiveness of sin, and have raised us to the new life of grace. Sustain us, O Lord, in your Holy Spirit and renew in us an inquiring and discerning heart, the courage to will and to persevere, a spirit to know and to love you, and the gift of joy and wonder in all your works. Amen

Book of Common Prayer, 308 (adapted)
