Go forth into the world in peace…

A Blessing for the Lenten Journey.

Cover art at St. Hugh's in Lent 2017

The Sundays in Lent are not counted in the 40 days of Lent. On the Sundays in Lent we will share words of blessing.

On the Second Sunday in Lent we share the blessing we are using at St. Hugh’s on the Sunday’s in Lent. This blessing, I believe, appeared in the Proposed Book of Common Prayer (1928) in England. This adaptation is prevalent on the internet, and, as indicated, used at St. Hugh’s on the Sundays in Lent. –Fr. Dan

Go forth into the world in peace;
be of good courage;
hold fast to that which is good;
render no one evil for evil;
strengthen the fainthearted,
support the weak,
help the afflicted,
honor all persons.

Love and serve the Lord,
rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit;

and the blessing of God, the Father,
the Son, and the Holy Spirit
be among you and remain with you always. Amen.

Be well. Do good. Pay attention. Keep learning
