Lord of light—shine on us

A sending prayer.

Winter light through the trees

Lord of light—shine on us;
Lord of peace—dwell in us;
Lord of might—succor us;
Lord of love—enfold us;
Lord of wisdom—enlighten us.
Then Lord, let us go out as your witnesses,
in obedience to your command;
to share the good news of your mighty love for us
in the gift of your Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

From The Church of Wales as quoted in Michael Counsell, Ed., 2000 Years of Prayer (Harrisburg, PA: Morehouse Publishing, 1999) p. 581

None of these gifts—light, peace, might, love, wisdom—are meant for us alone: these are gifts to be shared. They are freely given, they need to be freely shared. Today, let us share the good news of God’s mighty love for us in the greatest gift of God: Jesus. ~Fr. Dan
