Bless those who follow in his steps

Praying for those who minister to others.

A caregiving prayer

Though the language may be a bit dated for your 21st century taste, the sentiments expressed reach back to the time and ministry of Jesus. May we be faithful in our ministry to others. May we pray for each other (in words old and new) in our various ministries. ~Fr. Dan

Thank you: gifts of healing and forgiveness

Using our gifts as we give thanks.

Forgiveness begun …

Father of all mercies, for your gifts of healing and forgiveness, for grace to love and care for one another, for your hidden blessings, and for all you have in store for us, we give you thanks, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Prayer Book for Australia (1995) in Michael Counsell, Ed., 2000 Years of Prayer (Harrisburg, PA: Morehouse Publishing, 1999) p.  508

You and I are indeed gifted with the chance to pass along God’s healing and God’s forgiveness. We are able to love and care for others (and all creation). Let us give thanks by using these God=given graces. ~Fr. Dan

God of comfort, send your Spirit of wisdom

A prayer that we may both give and receive in the communion of saints.

Business people taking care of baby in office

God of comfort, send your Spirit of wisdom to open our eyes to see the value in the gifts that strengthen and nourish us to live a Christian life of service.

May the Holy Spirit inspire us to perform acts of care and kindness to ease and comfort those around us.

May our hearts also be open to receive that same care and kindness in return. Amen.

From Sojourners Verse & Voice email dated March 26, 2014

“Verse and Voice” is a daily resource for prayer and meditation provided by the folks of Sojourners. It is available as a daily email. More information here. I especially like that this prayer petitions God to open our hearts to receive care and kindness in return. I have found that those to whom I minister give so much to me in return if i am open to their gifts. ~Fr. Dan
