The work and joy of creation

Let us share in God’s ongoing work of creation.

the joy of creating

God who wrestled with chaos to create matter, and overcame death to bring us to eternal life, give to writers, musicians, and artists a share in the work and joy of creation, that, like you, they may draw forth beauty out of nothingness, and reveal to us some glimpses of your eternity, where you are enthroned, Life-giver, Pain-bearer, Love-maker, alive for ever and ever. Amen.

A prayer by Michael Counsell (1935- ) in his book 2000 Years of Prayer, p. 564

The “work and joy of creation” continues in every moment. All of us—not just those who are called writers, musicians, and artists—all of us, are invited to join God in the work and joy of creation. Today, let the creative work and the joy of God flow through you. ~Fr. Dan

Be all my love

Self-dedication along the Way

Leaves in the form of a heart

O God, be all my love,
all my hope,
all my striving;
let my thoughts and words flow from you,
my daily life be in you,
and every breath I take be for you. Amen.

John Cassian (c. 360-435). Adapted from Conferences 10 and quoted in Michael Counsell, Ed., 2000 Years of Prayer (Harrisburg, PA: Morehouse Publishing, 1999) p. 34

I bind myself today…

God’s wisdom to teach me

Mobius pattern

I wear a continuous mobius bracelet, the beginning becomes the end which leads back to the beginning. On the bracelet is inscribed the following prayer:

I bind myself today:
God’s power to guide me
God’s might to uphold me
God’s wisdom to teach me
God’s eye to watch over me
God’s ear to hear me
God’s word to give me speech
God’s hand to guide me God’s way to lie before me
God’s shield to shelter me
God’s Host to secure me

Day by Day

A prayer to see and love and follow …

Day by Day
Weekly goals and objectives

Thanks be to you, Lord Jesus Christ, for all the benefits which you have won for us, for all the pains and insults you have borne for us.

O most merciful Redeemer, Friend, and Brother, may we see you more clearly, love you more dearly, and follow you more nearly, day by day.

Prayer of Richard of Chichester (1197-1253) adapted. From Synthesis, April 27, 2003 See also: (The Episcopal) Hymnal 1982, #654

A short prayer for today

Sunrise of grace

May God grant us his grace
through our prayers
to carry out our promises;
